hindustantimes.com

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will begin critical trials of the Tejas LCA Mk-1A fighter jet in January 2025. The trials will test the Astra missile, electronic warfare systems, and radar, with a goal to deliver the first aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF) by March 31, 2025. Previously, the first delivery was scheduled for March 31, 2024, but delays in engine supply and certification issues caused setbacks. HAL is working with GE Aerospace to expedite the delivery of F404 engines, which are expected to start arriving in March 2025. HAL has established a new production line in Nashik to increase output to 24 jets per year. The IAF has ordered 83 Mk-1A fighters and plans to acquire more, emphasizing the importance of timely deliveries for maintaining combat readiness.
