Gutter-guppies eat mosquito larvae, controlling mosquito populations
Rising temperatures are increasing mosquito populations, prompting the use of "gutter-guppies" as an eco-friendly biological control method. These resilient fish, scientifically known as *Gambusia affinis*, consume mosquito larvae, with each fish eating up to 40 times its weight in larvae daily. They thrive in various water environments, including sewers and high heat. The Ministry of Health recommends gutter-guppies, which are easily bred and distributed, as a safe alternative to chemical treatments, offering a sustainable solution to mosquito control.
