The average U.S. family now spends about $270 weekly on groceries, totaling $1,080 monthly. Hawaii and Alaska have the highest grocery costs, averaging $334 and $329 per week, respectively. California follows at $298, with Nevada at $295 and Mississippi at $291 rounding out the top five most expensive states. In the tri-state area, New Jersey has the highest grocery costs at $275. Pennsylvania offers lower prices at $249, while Wisconsin has the best value at $221 per week.
