Grinding Gear Games apologizes for data breach affecting Path of Exile accounts

Grinding Gear Games has apologized for a data breach affecting 66 accounts of Path of Exile 1 and 2. The breach occurred due to a social engineering attack exploiting an unsecured Steam profile linked to an admin account. The hacker accessed personal information, including email addresses, Steam IDs, and IP addresses. The company has fixed a bug that allowed the attacker to reset passwords and is implementing stricter security measures for admin accounts. Grinding Gear Games acknowledged the seriousness of the breach and expressed regret for the security lapse. They are enhancing security protocols to prevent future incidents.
