Grand Rapids voters chose Hurlbutt athlete of the week

Allendale High School senior Michael Hurlbutt was named Grand Rapids-area Athlete of the Week after hitting three home runs. His performance earned him 44% of the vote. Hurlbutt, a catcher and leadoff hitter, went 6 for 10 with six RBIs and five runs scored last week. He leads Allendale in several offensive categories, including batting average, hits, and home runs. Despite Hurlbutt's strong individual performance, Allendale has struggled, losing their last ten games. The team is 4-16 overall and will play Covenant Christian in a doubleheader on Friday.
