Grand Forks man charged with distributing fentanyl in jail
A Grand Forks County inmate, Jeremie Richard Castoreno, 42, is charged with distributing fentanyl in jail. He allegedly smuggled the drugs in his court paperwork after returning from an initial court appearance on March 12. The charges follow an incident on December 2, when two inmates overdosed. Video surveillance showed Castoreno returning from court and entering a cell with another inmate shortly before the overdoses occurred. Authorities found Castoreno's paperwork with a ripped corner and a bindle containing a white powder that tested positive for fentanyl. Castoreno has been in custody for less than a week and has two other pending drug cases.
