Government sends sanitary reserve to Caen hospital amid doctor shortage

The French government is deploying the "sanitary reserve" to reinforce the Caen University Hospital's emergency services due to a severe doctor shortage. Health Minister Stéphanie Rist announced that volunteer medical professionals will be sent to Caen, aiming to allow interns to return within six months. The emergency department will continue to operate even without interns. This measure comes as other hospitals, like Toulouse, are also restricting emergency capacity. The Caen hospital's situation led to a suspension of its intern training accreditation due to inadequate supervision.
