Government raises medical fees to support healthcare professionals and hospitals
The government will increase the "base" portion of medical fees, covering physician fees and labor costs, by 3.09% for the 2026 fiscal year. This aims to address the financial struggles of many medical institutions due to rising prices. This marks the largest increase in 30 years, with over half allocated for improving the treatment of medical professionals facing shortages. The remaining portion will focus on supporting hospitals struggling with inflation. While drug prices will decrease slightly, the overall revision is positive. However, concerns remain about funding the growing medical costs, necessitating a review of patient contributions and efforts to improve efficiency and prevent fraud.
