Gothenburg City Council approves 1.1 billion kronor renovation for Gothenburg Museum of Art

Gothenburg City Council approved a 1.1 billion kronor renovation and expansion of the Gothenburg Museum of Art. The project, one of the city's largest cultural investments, will see the museum on Götaplatsen upgraded. The cost is higher than initially expected, with annual rent also increasing significantly. The museum is expected to double its visitor numbers and will be closed for construction from 2028 to 2032.
