Google's upcoming Pixel 12 Pro Fold may use a dual ultra-thin glass display to significantly reduce the visible crease, a technique previously explored by Apple. This could mark a major improvement for foldable phones. According to South Korean media The Elec, Samsung Display is assembling OLED prototypes with two ultra-thin glass layers for the Pixel 12 Pro Fold. The top layer protects against impacts and scratches, while the bottom distributes tension near the hinge, weakening the central crease. Samsung's own Galaxy Z Fold 8 uses a single glass layer with a titanium alloy film, while Oppo and vivo may adopt the dual-layer design, with devices arriving in early 2027. Google's foldable would follow later that year, though mass production approval is pending.
