Google's flight data reveals that Tuesday is the cheapest day to fly, offering potential savings of up to 20% compared to weekend travel. The analysis, based on five years of data, also indicates that flights with layovers are typically 25% cheaper than direct flights. The optimal booking window for domestic flights is 21 to 52 days before departure, with 38 days being the sweet spot. For international travel, booking 50 to 101 days in advance is recommended. The report also provides specific booking windows for holidays like Spring Break, Summer Break, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
