Google removes "Call Home" feature from Nest smart displays

Google removed the "Call Home" feature from its Home app, which allowed users to easily contact household smart displays. This change impacts parents who used it to reach children without personal devices. The feature, launched in 2019, utilized Google Duo to connect directly to devices like Nest Hubs. Users could initiate calls without needing separate Google accounts, simplifying communication within a household. Google has not officially stated why the feature was removed, and the Broadcast button has also disappeared from the app, though voice commands can still broadcast messages.
