Google launches Gemini 3.8 Flash and Cyber AI models

Google announced the launch of its new AI model, Gemini 3.8, with two variants: Gemini 3.8 Flash and Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber. The company touted the Flash model as its "most intelligent workhorse model" with improvements in software engineering and agentic tasks. Gemini 3.8 Flash will be temporarily available at the same introductory price as its predecessor, 3.7 Flash, at $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens. Google described the Cyber variant as its "most capable cybersecurity model" with frontier-level performance in vulnerability detection and automated patching, available to trusted defenders in its programme. Google stated that 3.8 Flash includes safeguards against misuse in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and cyber offences, while the Cyber variant has a more permissive set of mitigations for cyber defence professionals. Both releases are powered by the same foundational intelligence, accelerated by long-running agentic loops for recursive evaluation and refinement.
