Google integrates Gemini AI for PDF analysis in Files app

digitaltrends.com

Google has added a new feature to the Files by Google app that integrates its Gemini AI chatbot for PDF analysis. Users can now access Gemini directly when opening a PDF, allowing them to ask questions about the document with a single tap. This feature is currently available for devices running Android 15. Users can activate it by using a screen gesture or power button shortcut, which brings up an option to ask about the PDF. Gemini then processes the document and provides responses in natural language. The PDF analysis feature is limited to users with Gemini Advanced access. However, users can still analyze PDFs using the Gemini mobile app without the new integration. An alternative free tool, NotebookLM, can also parse information from various file types.
