Google enhances Android safety with new features to combat Bluetooth stalking

thesun.co.uk

Google has launched two new features for Android to enhance safety against Bluetooth stalking. Previously, the company introduced a Find My Device alert for detecting unknown tracking devices. The latest updates allow users to pause location updates for unwanted trackers for up to 24 hours. Users can also utilize an extended Find Nearby feature to locate unknown trackers. By tapping on the notification, they can play a sound to help find the device, even if it is hidden. This feature does not notify the owner of the tracker. Additionally, users can gather information about the tracker’s owner by bringing the device close to their phone. This may reveal the tracker's serial number and the last four digits of the owner's phone number, although it only works with certain Bluetooth trackers.
