Google employees test preview of next Gemini Flash model

Google employees are testing a preview version of Gemini 3.8 Flash, suggesting a public launch may be imminent as the company accelerates its release cadence. The new model surfaced on Google's internal coding platform, Jetski. The preview follows the recent release of Gemini 3.7 Flash, which came just three weeks after 3.6 Flash. One employee testing the model said it feels noticeably better than its predecessor, though a full review is premature. Google declined to comment. Google has shifted focus to faster, cheaper "Flash" models amid delays in its frontier models, competing with OpenAI and Anthropic. CEO Sundar Pichai has indicated an almost monthly release schedule, with the model also possibly spotted on benchmarking site Arena AI.
