These eco-friendly options offer biodegradable disposal and effective cleaning. Loofah, a vine plant resembling large zucchini, yields a natural fiber sponge after removing its skin and pulp. It is fully biodegradable, can be composted when dirty, and also works for body washing. Coconut fiber sponges, often combined with cellulose, provide both soft and abrasive sides for tough cleaning. The Argentine outlet La Nación highlights these sustainable swaps, noting coconut fiber scrapers also handle heavy soiling. Previously, advice suggested repurposing old synthetic sponges for other dirty surfaces using a color-coding system to avoid confusion.
