Goa to lay foundation stone for IIT campus this year
The Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, announced that the foundation stone for the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa will be laid this year. Construction is set to begin soon, with a separate budget planned. The state government has identified land at Dharbandora, previously owned by a sugar factory, for the new campus. This land was initially allocated for the International Law University but will now be used for IIT Goa. IIT Goa has been operating since 2016 from a temporary site at Goa Engineering College. Previous land options for a permanent campus faced rejections and local protests.
