Goa government removes 6,800 names from Dayanand Social Security Scheme beneficiary list
The Goa government has removed over 6,800 names from the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS) beneficiary list. This includes 2,101 individuals deemed ineligible due to income exceeding limits and 4,700 who are deceased or untraceable. The removals were made using data analytics to cross-check information with other departments. The scheme originally had 137,623 beneficiaries, costing the government around Rs 29 crore monthly. The department plans to continue the survey, focusing next on beneficiaries aged 75-80. Officials aim to ensure only eligible individuals receive support, allowing for new beneficiaries to join the program.
