GLP-1 injections cut obesity-related cancer risk by 41% in US patients, Taiwan study finds

A National Taiwan University Hospital study found GLP-1 weight-loss injections associated with a 41 percent lower risk of developing 13 obesity-related cancers than diet and exercise alone. Researchers analyzed U.S. TriNetX health records from 2014 to 2025, comparing over 160,000 matched obese adults without diabetes or cancer. The greatest risk reductions were for endometrial and colorectal cancer; findings appeared in Annals of Oncology. Obesity is an established risk factor for multiple cancers, but researchers cautioned the retrospective study does not establish cause and effect, and the drugs lack this approved indication.
