Glasgow man pleads guilty to machete attack on couple after speeding warning

A man in Glasgow, Andrew McDonald, 45, attacked a couple with a machete after they warned him about speeding outside a McDonald's on June 20, 2024. He swung the weapon at Ewan McCord and Emily Grant, who sought refuge inside the restaurant. The incident escalated when McDonald chased the couple in his van, driving aggressively through the parking lot. They managed to escape and hid in a nearby cemetery until police arrived. McDonald was arrested on July 20, 2024, and pled guilty to dangerous driving and assault on November 29. He received a structured deferred sentence, which will run until January 2025.
