Gladiator 2 composer pays tribute to Hans Zimmer's original score

Composer Harry Gregson-Williams is scoring "Gladiator 2," aiming to honor Hans Zimmer's original music while creating a new sound. He plans to compose over 100 minutes of music for the sequel, set two decades after the first film. Gregson-Williams is incorporating themes from the first score, particularly a main theme with a distinctive descending pattern. He intends to use Zimmer's original theme sparingly and precisely throughout the film. To enhance the emotional depth, Gregson-Williams layered unique instruments, including a ney flute and an Ethiopian vocalist. He also explored ancient sounds, such as war horns, to enrich the film's musical landscape.
