GitHub Copilot coding agent now uses Teams chats for code changes and pull requests

techrepublic.com —

GitHub Copilot's coding agent can now use Microsoft Teams conversations as context to investigate software tasks, change code, and create pull requests, eliminating the need to summarize team discussions. The agent can be @mentioned in a Teams conversation, then use that discussion alongside the connected GitHub repository to address issues and open pull requests. This builds on Copilot's Teams integration from September 2025, with changes still subject to existing repository permissions and review controls. The integration is available in public preview through desktop and web apps, requiring access to Teams, GitHub, and Copilot coding agent capabilities. This approach may reduce shadow AI by keeping workflows within approved tools.
