Gisborne rugby club HSOB marks 100 years with centennial celebrations in March 2025

The High School Old Boys (HSOB) rugby club in Gisborne will celebrate its 100th anniversary from March 28-30, 2025. The event will take place at the clubrooms on Anzac St and include various sports activities and a dinner featuring rugby journalist Phil Gifford as the guest speaker. Founded in 1925 by former Gisborne High School players, HSOB has a rich history, including winning 20 premier rugby titles, the most in Poverty Bay. The club has also expanded into netball, cricket, and football over the years. HSOB's notable players include All Blacks Richard "Tiny" White and Brian Fitzpatrick. The club has contributed significantly to local sports, with a legacy that includes a strong presence in rugby and netball competitions.
