Germany doubles anti-drone force after Leipzig airport drone incident

welt.de (German)

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt is doubling the federal police's anti-drone unit to 300 personnel following an explosive-laden drone discovery at Leipzig Airport. The Joint Drone Defense Center will grow from 150 to 300 officers, and operational bases will expand from four to eight nationwide. The drone, found Wednesday in the cargo security area, was defused; several Ukrainian cargo planes were nearby. Leipzig Airport serves as a hub for military aid shipments to Ukraine. A London-based IISS study, co-involving the Hanns-Seidel Foundation, says European states cannot yet clearly attribute drone attacks to Russia.
