A German hiker survived a dramatic 20-meter fall in the Hohe Tauern mountains. A large-scale rescue operation brought her to safety. The 46-year-old lost her footing on a wet path, sustaining severe leg injuries. Bad weather complicated the rescue efforts, requiring most of the 23 mountain rescuers and nine alpine police officers to ascend on foot. The woman was hiking with her husband and 12-year-old daughter when the accident occurred. She was transported to Spittal an der Drau hospital.
