Gene therapy drug significantly reduces daily seizures in children with Dravet syndrome

A new gene therapy drug, zorevunersen, has shown remarkable success in reducing daily seizures in children and adolescents with Dravet syndrome. The study found significant reductions in seizure frequency, ranging from 59% to 91%, with some patients experiencing notable improvements in cognitive and behavioral functions over three years. The therapy targets the root cause of the rare genetic epilepsy, with generally mild side effects, and is currently undergoing larger trials to confirm its efficacy.
