Gelsenkirchen Zoo mourns polar bear Antonia, who died at 36

Polar bear Antonia, a beloved 36-year-old resident of Gelsenkirchen Zoo, has died. Antonia was born with a growth disorder, remaining significantly smaller than other polar bears. Her mother rejected her at birth, leading to her being hand-raised. Her mother, Nadine, was one of four polar bears tragically shot and killed in 2000 at Nuremberg Zoo under unclear circumstances.
