Fukuoka–Kuala Lumpur flights resume after 6.5 years

The Fukuoka–Kuala Lumpur flight route resumed operations after a six-and-a-half-year suspension, with a commemorative ceremony held at Fukuoka Airport on Thursday. Malaysia Airlines operates the route for the first time in 20 years. The first flight from Kuala Lumpur arrived in the morning, greeted by an arch-shaped water salute from fire trucks. A banner was displayed, and passengers received commemorative gifts to mark the occasion. Fukuoka International Airport's president expressed hope that Malaysian visitors will travel across Kyushu, including Kumamoto and Kagoshima, noting a regional discount campaign starting in October. The airport expects improved convenience through expanded international networks.
