Fukashi Shrine in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, completes torii gate reconstruction after 54 years

Fukashi Shrine in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, has completed the reconstruction of its torii gate after 54 years. A completion ceremony and inaugural walk were held on June 2nd. The new wooden vermilion torii gate, a symbol of the shrine, stands 5.1 meters high and 6.3 meters wide. Construction began in August 2024 due to the risk of collapse from deteriorating pillars. This reconstruction was part of a commemorative project for the 1125th anniversary of Sugawara no Michizane's death, whom the shrine enshrines. The previous torii was built in 1972.
