From London to Bradford, HIV nurse retires after 36 years

HIV specialist nurse Simon Corcos retires after 36 years, having witnessed treatment transform from a death sentence to normal life expectancy. Corcos began at London's Middlesex Hospital in 1990, treating patients with no effective drugs. After triple therapy transformed care in 1996, he joined Bradford Teaching Hospitals in 2006, caring for thousands. He says stigma remains a challenge. Earlier, he worked at Chelsea's Kobler Clinic during early drug trials and later as a police custody nurse. He emphasised normalising HIV as a chronic illness.
