Free tax assistance offered to eligible Canadians

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is offering free tax assistance to eligible Canadians as the April 30 filing deadline approaches. This service is available through non-profit organizations and volunteers at Community Volunteer Income Tax Program clinics. In 2024, volunteers helped submit 980,000 tax returns, assisting over 857,000 people. Eligible individuals include single Canadians earning under $35,000 and couples earning under $45,000, with simple tax situations. Free tax clinics are open in March and April, with some available year-round. Eligible individuals can also access the CRA's SimpleFile program, which provides a secure online method for filing taxes.
