Frank Lloyd Wright home in Los Angeles faces ruin from years of neglect

A historic Frank Lloyd Wright home in Los Angeles is deteriorating due to years of neglect, risking permanent loss through "demolition by neglect." The 1939 Sturges Home in Brentwood Heights is the city's only Usonian-style building by the architect. The vacant property shows rotting redwood, warped structures, and decaying pillars, with neighbors reporting wild animals inside. The Los Angeles Conservancy warns deferred maintenance could cause irreversible damage to the 1,200-square-foot home, which features a 21-foot deck over the canyon. The home was built for George and Selma Sturges after they saw Wright's work in a 1938 magazine. It passed through several owners before actor Jack Larson lived there until 2015, and is now owned by a non-profit and listed as a Historic-Cultural Monument.
