Framework has launched a new RISC-V mainboard for its Laptop 13, aimed at developers. Priced at $199, it features soldered RAM and eMMC storage, making it less suitable for general consumers. The board, developed with DeepComputing, uses a StarFive JH7110 processor and supports Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or Fedora 41. It can fit into the existing Framework Laptop 13 chassis or a separate Cooler Master case. Additionally, Framework is offering a barebones laptop chassis for $399, which includes a screen and battery. This chassis can accommodate the new RISC-V board or any other Framework Laptop 13 motherboard.
