Fourteen wolf packs now live in the Netherlands as population grows

nos.nl (Dutch)

Fourteen wolf packs are now estimated to be in the Netherlands, with the wolf population continuing to grow. Last year, 131 individual wolves were identified, a rise of thirty from 2024. Most of this increase is due to new pups born in existing packs, with others migrating from neighboring countries, primarily Germany. Wolves returned to the Netherlands in 2015 after a 150-year absence. In 2025, 29 wolves died, mainly from traffic incidents and inter-wolf aggression.
