Four women allege they were sexually assaulted and harassed at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate, prompting growing calls for an independent inquiry. The BBC spoke to four former recruits, all aged 17 while attending the college, who described a culture of misogyny and sexual violence. Former MP Sarah Atherton said public confidence could only be restored through an independent inquiry. Between January 2018 and June 2025, 176 complaints of inappropriate sexual behaviour were made. North Yorkshire Police recorded 16 sexual offence reports linked to the college in the year to June.
