Four suspects arrested for cocoa smuggling from Côte d’Ivoire to Ghana receive bail

Four individuals were granted GH¢10,000 bail each by the Fiapre Circuit Court for allegedly smuggling cocoa beans from Côte d’Ivoire into Ghana. The suspects were arrested in April by the Ghana Cocoa Board's Anti-Smuggling Unit and security operatives at Nkrankwanta, with over 100 bags of cocoa seized. They are to reappear in court on May 13, 2026. The government stated its commitment to protecting the integrity of Ghana's cocoa sector. The suspects must also report weekly to the Nkrankwanta Police Station.
