Four arrested in Bangladesh for vandalism and arson targeting Hindu community
Bangladesh police have arrested four individuals for vandalising a Hindu temple and setting fire to homes and shops in Sunamganj district. The arrests follow a violent incident triggered by a Facebook post on December 3, which led to communal unrest. Authorities have filed cases against 12 named suspects and 150-170 unidentified individuals. Police are continuing their investigation to identify more people involved in the violence, which targeted the local Hindu community. Bangladesh has reported 88 incidents of communal violence against minorities from August to October, with 70 arrests made. This situation has strained relations with India, which has expressed concerns over the safety of minority communities in Bangladesh.
