Former Taiwan President Tsai to speak at Stanford conference in US visit
Former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen announced Friday she will visit the United States next week to speak at a Stanford University conference on technology and national security, marking her first trip there since leaving office in 2024. Tsai will attend the Stanford DEFCON 2026 Technology & National Security Conference on Wednesday, where she plans to share Taiwan's experience addressing challenges at the intersection of technological development, democratic resilience, and national security, according to her social media posts. China, which claims Taiwan as part of its territory, routinely objects to overseas visits by senior Taiwanese officials, including former leaders, and has not ruled out using force to achieve reunification.
