Former bank robber's son arrested in alleged child abuse compensation fraud scheme
Seven people were arrested this week for allegedly running a scheme to coach individuals into making false claims for child abuse compensation. Among those arrested is Ky Manser, son of the late Russell Manser, a former bank robber and TikTok influencer. The group is accused of targeting former public school students and youth prison inmates to submit fraudulent claims against government institutions. Police believe they could have gained about $3.75 million if the claims were successful. Russell Manser had previously founded a charity for abuse survivors, which went into liquidation in 2023. The arrests follow a police investigation into the alleged fraud, which involved multiple law firms in Sydney.
