Former Alberta teacher faces new sexual offence charges after past conviction
Fred Archer, an 80-year-old former teacher, has been charged with five new sexual offences related to incidents from the 1990s. The charges include sexual assault and sexual interference, following allegations from two men who were his students. These new allegations emerged after the men participated in a class-action lawsuit against Archer and another teacher, Michael Gregory, who died in 2021. The lawsuit claims both teachers abused students and that some school officials were aware of the misconduct. Archer previously served a prison sentence for sexual offences against students and was released on parole in 2010. He had acknowledged the possibility of more victims coming forward during his parole hearing.
