Former Alberta teacher faces new sexual offence charges 15 years after prison release

Fred Archer, a former Calgary teacher, has been charged with five new sexual offences, including sexual assault and sexual interference, related to incidents from the 1990s. The charges follow allegations from two men who were his students. Archer, now 80, previously served time for sexual assaults on students and had indicated that he would accept further charges if victims came forward. The new allegations emerged during a class-action lawsuit against him and another former teacher. The lawsuit claims that Archer and the late Michael Gregory abused male students at John Ware School and that school officials were aware of the misconduct. Archer had previously admitted to abusing boys while working as a guidance counsellor at another school.
