Ford pauses F-150 Lightning production as Tesla's Cybertruck leads U.S. electric truck sales
Ford will pause production of its F-150 Lightning pickup truck for six weeks, from November 18 to January 6. This decision follows Tesla's Cybertruck becoming the top-selling electric truck in the U.S. during the third quarter. In the third quarter, Tesla sold 16,692 Cybertrucks, while Ford sold only 7,162 Lightning trucks. Ford's overall electric vehicle sales were lower than both Tesla and General Motors. Ford's electric vehicle segment reported a loss of $1.2 billion for the third quarter, contributing to a total loss of $3.7 billion this year. The company anticipates a full-year loss of $5 billion for this segment.
