Ford expects $5.5 billion in EV losses for 2025 while reporting strong Q4 profit
Ford Motor expects losses of up to $5.5 billion in 2025 for its electric vehicle and software operations, similar to last year's losses. The company anticipates lower overall profitability compared to 2024. In the fourth quarter, Ford reported a net profit of $1.8 billion, a significant increase from a $500 million loss in the same period last year. Revenue reached $48.2 billion, exceeding analyst expectations. Ford is focusing on hybrids instead of new electric models in 2025, contrasting with General Motors' plans for new EVs. The company sold nearly twice as many hybrids as EVs last year, with 187,426 hybrids sold compared to 97,865 EVs.
