Food and environmental hygiene officer assaulted in Sham Shui Po after issuing fine

A food and environmental hygiene officer was pushed down during an altercation with a man in Sham Shui Po. The officer was injured and taken to the hospital. The incident occurred after the officer attempted to issue a fixed penalty notice to the man for spitting in public. The man reportedly refused to cooperate and assaulted the officer before fleeing. The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department stated that its officers will not tolerate insults, threats, or violence while on duty and that assaulting public officials is a serious offense. Police are investigating and searching for the suspect.
