Florida man known as Lieutenant Dan rescued from houseboat as Hurricane Milton approaches

A Florida man known as "Lieutenant Dan" went viral for refusing to evacuate his houseboat ahead of Hurricane Milton. However, he has since changed his mind and was rescued by police, now staying in a shelter. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor confirmed the rescue, urging others to evacuate as well. She highlighted the dangers of Hurricane Milton, which is expected to bring severe storm surge and flooding. Milton could cause 12 to 15 feet of storm surge, significantly more than the recent Hurricane Helene. Officials are warning residents about the potential for historic flooding.
