Flooding in Kentucky claims two lives as winter storms impact much of the US

Severe flooding in Kentucky has resulted in at least two deaths, including a 73-year-old man found in floodwaters. The state is under flood warnings, with emergency services conducting rescues and Governor Andy Beshear declaring a state of emergency. Winter weather is impacting much of the U.S., with dangerously cold temperatures in the Northern Plains and heavy snowfall expected in New England. Tornado watches are in effect for parts of Georgia and Florida, while mudslides have blocked roads in Virginia. In Southern California, dry weather follows a major storm, but the risk of mudslides remains. In the Sierra Nevada, heavy snowfall has caused an avalanche, injuring one ski patrol worker.
