Flemish households consider fixed energy contracts as prices normalize

More Flemish households are opting for fixed energy contracts, seeking budget certainty after the recent energy crisis. While fixed contracts offer price stability for one to two years, variable contracts remain the norm, with 26.1% of Flemish electricity consumers and 27.6% for gas having fixed deals in October 2025. Although fixed rates are normalizing, they still include a risk premium from suppliers, potentially making them more expensive than variable contracts annually.
