Flaming torch procession in Khandwa injures 30 participants

Thirty people were injured during a flaming torch procession in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, late Thursday night. The injuries occurred when torches were being extinguished, causing a sudden burst of flames. The injured included women and children, with 18 treated and released from the hospital. Twelve others remain hospitalized but are reported to be in stable condition. The annual procession honors three individuals, including policeman Sitaram Batham, who were killed by the banned Students' Islamic Movement of India in 2009.
