Fixed deposit rates increase for savers

European Central Bank interest rates are expected to remain unchanged today. However, interest rates on savings accounts and fixed-term deposits are increasing. Savings account interest rates are rising slightly, while fixed-term deposit rates are up across all maturities. Long-term fixed deposits now average 2.49%, with two-year terms at 2.06% and savings accounts at 1.29%. Despite nominal rate increases, real interest rates often remain negative due to inflation. Some banks offer rates above inflation, particularly for new customers with specific account requirements.
